Some States on Sunday which are Katsina, Bauchi, Gombe, Enugu, Sokoto and Ekiti have given reasons why they wont be able to reopen schools amidst the novel Coronavirus Outbreak.
They all ruled out full reopening of scholls which includes Universities even though there’s progress in the fight of COVID-19.
According to our source, The State Governments said they will not follow the Lagos State example.
Recall that Schools nationally went on lockdown as part of the COVID-19 measures to curtail the spread of the deadly virus.
August 4th, Secondary Schools 3 exit classes were called to resume back to write their West African Senior School Certificate Examination which commenced on 17th of August.
Healthforbes Media, As of August 29th, reported that not less than 53,727 new COVID-19 cases had been confirmed in Nigeria. Lagos recorded 18, 104 cases; the nations Capital, FCT recorded 5,149 cases and Oyo State recorded 3,107 cases.
However, in Kano State, 1,725 cases were recorded also.
Until fews weeks ago, on Saturday, the Lagos State Government had announced the resumption of schools on September 14 while resumption date for primary and secondary schools were tentatively fixed for September 21st.

We are not in a hurry, we will wait for FG’s directive- Ogun State Government.
On Sunday, the Government of Ogun State had stated that they are not in a hurry to reopen Universities, secondary and primary schools.
Ogun State Government had said it will avoid taking an uninformed decision to resume schools since Lagos State had made the announcement to reopen schools.
Remmy Hazzan, Special Adviser to the governor on Public Communications reported that the State Government closed schools based on the Federal Government’s order and would reverse the order based on same procedure.
Bauchi Won’t Follow Lagos Examples- Bauchi State Commissioner
Dr Aliyu Tilde who’s the Bauchi State Commissioner of Education responded to an SMS sent to him stated that “Bauchi does not follow Lagos, We will open when we are ready.
Mallam Salisu Kerau who is the Public Relations Officer of Katsina State Ministry of Education reported that there were no notice yet on resumption of Schools in the State.
“No notice yet on resumption of Schools and Higher Institutions in the state.
Everyone will be informed the actual date of schools resumption.” he added.
We can’t reopen schools if there is no safety- Gombe Commissioner
Dr. Meshack Audu who is the Gombe State Commissioner for Higher Education had said “No specific date at the moment, but we are monitoring the situation.
Government is not happy that students have stayed this long at home, hence they are doing everything possible to ensure their safe resumption.
