On Tuesday the 30th June, The Plateau State House of Assembly on Tuesday has reportedly suspended the Chairman representing Quaan Pan Local Government by name, Hon, Isaac Kwallu alongside his counterpart, Hon.Abas Wokdung for illegally suspending their councillors and refusing to pay their entitlements.
Rt. Hon. Abok Ayuba, who’s the speaker of the House annouced the suspension in the middle of the plenary, instructed the chairmen affected to handover to their deputies with immediate effects.
After the plenary session, Journalists were addressed the House Committee Chairman on the Information,
The chairmen had been involved deeply in an argument in some noisy quarrel with their councillors- Phillip Dasun
Dasun said the two chairmen were invited and Assembly by the State House of Assembly and on several occasion instructed them on how to resolve their disbutes but they disobeyed the directives.
“They were directed to pay the entitlements owned councillors but they failed to do so.
“In the case of Kanam, he even sacked the substantive Clerk of the House posted there by the House of Assembly Service Commission and refused to reinstate him as directed,” he said
According to the Information Committee Chairman, the suspension of the Kwallu was not in line with his senatorial ambition.
It was Kwallu’s right to contest the seat since he hailed from the zone and that the House would not suspend him for exercising his political right- Dasun
Healthforbes gathered that Kwallu’s suspension was based on his Senatorial ambition.
Kwallu was advised not to include himself in the Senate contest by a source from the ruling APC in Plateau State for Plateau South to replace the deceased Senator Ignatius Longjan.
It was also known that the strength that be in the party have their preferred candidates.
