HEADLINE: PLATEAU STATE GOVERNOR DECLARES MONDAY MAY 4th,2020 AS LOCKDOWN-FREE DAY;
Rt.Hon.(Dr.) Simon Bako Lalong, The Present Governor of Plateau State,has put smiles on the faces of the inhabitants of Plateau state as he declares Monday,the 4th day of May, 2020 as total Lockdown free,through a press released by the Director of press and public affairs to the Plateau state Governor, Dr. Makut Simon.
This measure is to enable citizens conduct activities such as bank transactions which they could not carry out on Friday 1st May, 2020 due to the workers day public holiday , Following several appeals by the Citizens of Plateau state,and in the spirit of the May-Day celebration. However, it is worthy of note that the 8pm-6am curfew enforced by the federal government still stands on Monday 4th May, while the restriction on inter-local government movements and the total lockdown as announced by Governor Lalong resumes on Tuesday 5th May.
The Governor restated that the guidelines earlier given by the World health Organization (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control(NCDC) such as,Social distancing,Personal hygiene,regular sanitation,Inter-state closure, as well as wearing of face masks in public places among others should be duely observed.
Governor Lalong,the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum, has been a pragmatic frontliner in the war against COVID-19 as he takes necessary measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease, these measures include; deployment of CCTV cameras to the state borders to ensure that there is no any form of interstate travel,proactively creating isolation center facility even before an index case incididence in the state and also organizing a 5-day fumigation exercise which he also participated.
Though the first index case of the coronavirus on the plateau came as a surprise,but measures are been taken to ensure that the number of cases in the state does not exceed its present status which is one index case.
