The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, (NCDC) announced via its official tweeter account that there are 15-new cases of Plateau State COVID-19 bringing it to a total of 35 confirmed cases, 10 recovered cases and 1 death recorded Healthforbes Media reporting.
The total COVID-19 cases in Nigeria as at 20th May 2020 at 12:34am is 6,401 confirmed cases, 1,734 recovered cases and 192 deaths recorded.
Monday the 19th May 2020, the Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong has inaugurated some special committee for Research on Coronavirus and other deadly infectious Diseases in Rayfield in Plateau State.
According to His Excellency, “Indeed, our generation is facing one of its most difficult times. Clearly COVID-19 has reminded us of the need to be proactive in our medical facilities and working ahead to develop a preventive and curative capacity for infectious diseases.
The Lead Researcher, Professor Noel Wannang who’s a Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Jos stated that his team members would do their best for the good of the society.
On the 15th May 2020, Plateau State Government discharged 6 COVID-19 patients from one of the Isolation Centres, Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
Dr Nimkong Lar who’s the State Commissioner for Health in Plateau State disclosed that during the COVID-19 briefing at the Government House in Rayfield Jos last week Friday. He said the patients had recovered and tested negative to the deadly virus.
Dr Nimkong Lar Ndam urges residents of Plateau to be vigilant and report any suspicious case and assist the state government of Plateau to enforce the border closure which is one of the most important steps in curtailing the virus.
