JUTH SACKS 25 of its resident Doctors Amid Coronavirus Healthforbes Media reports.
Now that the whole world is bedeviled by a Global Health emergency,it’s Apparent  that every Hospital need adequate health workers to exercise their expertise to curb the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic but however, Jos University Teaching hospital (JUTH), which is one of the facilities used as an isolation Center in Plateau State, has dismissed 25 resident doctors from the Facility Healthforbes Media reports.
The Management of JUTH, has not given  any concrete reason for the termination of service of these resident doctors and the National Assoctiaton Of Resident Doctors, through the Associaton’s President, Dr. Stephen Lukden has expressed its displeasure towards the new development as Dr.Lukden asked the Management  of Jos University  Teaching Hospital to reverse the action with an immediate  effect.
However, Mrs Bridget Omini, the Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the Hospital declares her unawareness to this action as she said; “There is nothing  like that, having confirmed from the Chief Medical Director, and he said there is nothing like that.
But Dr.Stephen Lukden who confirmed the new development  yesterday said, 25 of his members received their letter of dismiss and the Management of JUTH have not given any reason to back up their decision.
A letter has been written by the association  and addressed to the Chief Medical Director Of JUTH, Prof.Edmund Banwat, asking the hospital’s management to reverse the sack letters issued to its members, describing the action as illegal and unjust.
The ARD President, Dr. Stephen lukden and the Association’s General Secretary, Dr.Noel Nnaegbuna, jointly signed the letter and noted that The National Residency Training Act (MRTA) 2017, Signed into law by the President of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria and gazzeted on July 6th 2018 stated the guidelines on Conduct of residency training programme in Nigeria and JUTH management has not been able to point out any misconduct by these dismissed Doctors. So therefore, the termination of service of these 25 resident Doctors is rather unjust.
