Jack Ma Foundation and Ali Baba Foundation donated Coronavirus kits to African Union Member States arrived in the Country on Tuesday the 24th of March earlier this afternoon.
The donations were brought into the Cargo area of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos by an Ethiopian Airlines cargo plane.
Although international flights are closed, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority allows emergency flights such as this at the MMIA.
The Government of Ethiopia on Monday received a consignment of medical equipment from the foundations.
Over 1.5 million facilities were shipped which include over 100 tons of infection prevention and control commodities and Laboratory diagnostic test kits.
The Prime Minister of Ethiopia launched this initiative, Dr Abiy Ahmed; the Jack Ma Foundation; and Alibaba Foundation as part of actions towards implementation of the Africa joint continental strategy for COVID-19 led by the African Union through its Africa Centre for Disease Control.
Every AU state member is expected to get equipment consisting of 100,000 medical masks, 20,000 laboratory diagnostic test kits, and 1000 protective suits and face shields to the fight against the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

As of yesterday Tuesday 24th march afternoon, there are 42 confirmed cases of the Coronavirus, COVID-19 in Nigeria, this is the statistically report by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
