
The Termination of the Services of these part-time lecturers was as a result of the consistent refusal of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to comply with Federal government directive to enroll on the Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System (IPPIS) Healthforbes Media reporting.
The former Vice chancellor,Prof.Sani Zaharadden alongside many other professors who have retired but still held on contract by the University to profess their expertise in their field, were affected by the virtue of this development.
one of the affected lectures, Dr. Saidu Dukawa of department of political science,he said the unfortunate decision of the university to terminate his contract appointment was due to the IPPIS.
However, When the vice chancellor Of the University,Prof.Prof.Mohammad Yahuza Bello was contacted,he insisted that those affected are not more than 10.
Prof.Bello explained that the decision became necessary of the inability of the university to pay their salaries.
The Vice Chancellor stressed that contract staff are not accommodated in the IPPIS platform, he revealed that the university is no longer generating revenue to meet over N18 million monthly salaries of the affected lecturers.
