Hotel Owners and Beer Parlours Proprietors Association has sued the Sabon Gari Local Government Area, Zaria, Kaduna State, to court after the proposed bill to ban beer consumption or sales within that area.
Sabon Gari is a settlement area for mostly non-indigenes.
The hoteliers have On June 11,2020,through one of their counsels, Solomon Kaine, applied and obtained a court order from the state High Court sitting in Zaria to prevent the council from passing the bill to ban the sale and consumption of alcohol.

But Kabir Sabo, fixed June 23, 2020 for substantive hearing of the application.
The hearing was hindered on Tuesday because the court did not sit.
Solomon Kaine said the hotel owners dragged the council to court because it is not within its jurisdiction to outlaw the sale and consumption of alcohol in the area.
“We want the court to stop the local government from harassing the hoteliers and as well stop enacting such law”,he said Healthforbes Media reporting.
