Not less than five members of a family were carried away by a flood at Giri Quarters, Abuja today Saturday the 25th July 2020.
Abbas Idriss who’s the Director-General of FCT Emergency Management Agency reported the incident after confirming that a body had been recovered while the search for other bodies are currently in progress.
He said “There was a family of five at Giri Quarters that were swept away by a flood and we have recovered the body of a family member; we are still searching for the remaining four members. There was no flood at Lokogoma, though it rained heavily. We are opening channels and drainage in Lokogoma, so the water has free access now”
Abbas also disclosed that other parts of the FCT, including Kuje and Gwagwalada also have records of flooding during an overnight downpour on Saturday.
Healthforbes gathered that Abbas later said he was not aware of any death in the Gwagwalada incident. Unconfirmed reports reported that 30 individuals were feared missing in the flood in Gwagwalada, Abuja.
