COVID-19: COVID-19 Patients Protest in Gombe State Healthforbes Media reports
COVID-19 Patients in Gombe State were seen protesting this afternoon under the hot sun over the State Government’s inability to provide proper food and medical attention to the Patients at the Kwadon isolation center in Yamaltu Deba Local government area of Gombe state as the patients blocked the Biu road in Gombe State.
These Patients have left the isolation centers and they have been destroying properties on the highway.
The Patients felt they have been neglected by the State Government as they get only a little or no Palliative care items from the Gombe State Government.
Since the 5th COVID-19 index cases reported by the Nigeria Center for Disease Contro l(NCDC) on the 20th day of April,2020 ,the number of cases in the state since have continued to spring up as the day goes by. From the daily state-by-state chart drawn by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, as at Monday 4th May,2020, Gombe State is at the 5th position in the country which is right behind Lagos,Kano,Abuja and Borno states in a descending order of epicenters of the pandemic outbreak.
The Governor of Gombe State, His Excellency, Yahaya Inuwa has taken measures such as banning of any form of social gathering and congregational worships, evacuation of Almajiri’s from Gombe State to their respective home states of origin,imposing of curfew, unoptional wearing of face masks in public places and creating isolation centers for the COVID-19 infected patients in addition to other measures taken to harness the spread and also to treat the disease infected patients in the state.
As at 2nd May, 2020’s night, the Gombe State NCDC reported 4 new cases In the state and 96 total confirmed cases and as at Monday 4th May 2020,the country has total confirmed cases of 2,802 and 245 new cases with Lagos having the highest number of cases which: 1183, followed by Kano:365, Abuja:297, Borno:100, Gombe:96 Ogun:85, Katsina (83), Kaduna:81, Bauchi:80, Sokoto:66, Edo:62, Oyo and Jigawa:39, Osun:37, Delta:17, Akwa Ibom and Kwara:16, Rivers (14), Yobe, Zamfara, and Ondo:13, Ekiti, Adamawa, and Kebbi:12, Nasarawa:11, Taraba and Enugu:8, Bayelsa and Ebonyi:5, Niger (4), Plateau (3), Abia, Benue, and Imo:2, while Anambra state recorded one case.
