The Health Commissioner for Lagos State, Prof Akin Abayomi made publicly earlier today about Lagos COVID 19 that a total of 119 Lagosians were confirmed asymptomatic with the novel coronavirus which is also known as COVID-19.
Prof Akin at a briefing meeting on Tuesday about Lagos COVID 19, said a total of 118,000 citizens have been reached-out in the house to house search for asymptomatic cases of COVID-19 in Lagos State. He said,
Community search has been activated to halt the spread of the virus in Lagos State which has the highest number of COVID-19 in the country presently. We have embarked on an active case search in communities in Lagos State. The idea is to reach out to vulnerable areas such as gatherings and hotspots from door to door alongside with health experts.
In the past 2-days we have covered over 118,000 households and we are searching for asymptomatic citizens of COVID-19. So far we have confirmed about 119 people with the symptoms.
Let me remind you that COVID-19 is a respiratory illness that is caused by a virus and has a pneumonia-like symptoms which threatens the respiratory tract. So taking samples from house-to-house is a great idea to curtail the spread by analysing the samples to give us an idea on how many Lagosians has been affected and COVID-19 activity that’s happening in the communities.
