COVID-19: Idu Isolation Centre Still Operational- FCTA


The Nation’s Capital, Federal Capital Territory admistration has not shut down the Idu COVID-19 treatment and quarantine Centers.


The Acting Secretary, Dr Mohammed Kawu, FCTA Health and Human Services Secretariat, reported this in a Statement issued on Saturday in the Nation’s Capital, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.


Mohammed said “While it is true that Abuja has closed down some lsolation Centres as a result of a reduction in the number of COVID-19 Patients recently, Idu centers is still effective.


“We only shut down two lsolation Centres, The Asokoro and Karu General hospitals which were earlier transform to lsolation Centres, but have been given back to their original use presently.


Dr Kawu said, “The ldu lsolation centre which is 500-bed facility is still open and managing COVID-19 patients.

The Acting Secretary said the Federal Capital Territory has no purpose to close down the Idu Centre for now until there was need to do so.


H-Forbes gathered that the deadly disease, COVID-19 is still widespread and “We cannot take chances” said Dr Mohammed Kawu.


Mohammed said that there has been an obvious drop in the number of people coming down with the deadly disease, COVID-19, In FCTA.


Dr Kawu, pleaded with the citizens to continue with the preventive measures, which includes hands washing with soap and water or sanitizing of yours hands, not only that he also advised the use of face mask and crowded areas should be avoided.
