Following the resurgence of Lassa fever in Bauchi state, 19- confirmed persons have died this year, Senator Baba Tela, the Deputy Governor of Bauchi state stated this at a press conference held today thursday the 16th April 2020 at the Banquet Hall, Government House in Bauchi.
The senator said 48 persons were placed under watch and undergoing treatment for the viral diseases (Lassa fever) in the state. He said,
“It is not as if we have gotten rid of Lassa fever completely in the state; No, we have’nt.
“And as far as 14-week of our research, the total number of death to Lassa fever is 19 and we dont have any new case at the moment.

“And we are following up contacts of about 48 process and those 48 have been confirmed and are under medication and they are recovering fast”
The Chairman of Bauchi State Task Force Committee on COVID-19 and Lassa Fever, whos also the Deputy governor stated that the biggest issues facing Bauchi State is that the citizens have low level of the awareness.
He adviced the citizens of Bauchi State to always report any suspected case of Lassa fever in the state, urging that early observation and treatment can help halt the viral infection.
