Kano State news records 12 cases as Nigeria’s Coronavirus cases surge to 407.
Nigeria has reported 34 new cases of the novel Coronavirus, taking the total confirmed cases to 407. There is a record of 12 death and 128 patients have been discharged. This was announced by the official tweeter account of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) @NCDCgov on wednesday the 15th April 2020 at 11:20pm.
The NCDC restated that Kano State recorded 12 new cases, Bringing its total number to 16. The 34 new cases affected 5 States in Nigeria which are Lagos-12, Kano-12, Katsina-1, Delta-1 and Niger-1.
The Commissioner for Health in Kano State, Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa earlier on wednesday morning announced 5- new cases at 10:25am. Kano is known to be the most densed and populated area in the northern part of Nigeria according to the census conducted in 2006.
The index case of the Coronavirus was confirmed and made public in Kano State on Saturday the 11th April 2020. Right now the COVID-19 Status in Nigeria, there are 19 States including the FCT with confirmed cases of the Coronavirus in Nigeria.
Kaduna-6, Akwa-Ibom-6, Lagos-234, FCT-58, Osun-20, Kano-16, Edo-15, Oyo-11. Ogun-9. Katsina-7 , others are Delta-4, Rivers-2, Niger-2, Benue-1, Anambra-1, Kwar-4, Enugu-2, Ekiti-2.
Kano officially is the most escalated case in Nigeria. Jumped by almost 150% in one day from 9 to 21cases & 0-1 death in just 10 mins.
Government must engage Islamic Clerics and obtain their buy in for effective testing and containment.
