Ekiti state Governor, Governor Kayode Fayemi addresses on the third confirmed case of COVID-19 in Ekiti State on his official Tweeter handle today Saturday 18th April, 2020.
Governor Kayode has been proactive to curtail the spread of the virus in the State but sadly, Ekiti State has confirmed a 3rd #COVID-19 Positive case.
This new case is a pregnant 29-year-old female community Health Worker in Ikorodu, Lagos State who sneaked into Ekiti State. As at today, Ekiti State has had 29 suspected cases, 2- confirmed cases and 49 contact tracing persons of interest before this new cases.
Thankfully, all the contacts traced have not shown any symptoms of infections. If we recall Ekiti state recorded its first confirmed index case of Coronavirus on March 15, 2020 and the patient was treated and discharged on 31st March, 2020.
Governor Kayode said, barely 24hours after the first index case was discharged, the state recorded its second case. He was also discharged on Tuesday, April 9th 2020 after medical treatments.
He also said,Sadly, Ekiti State has confirmed its 3rd case of the novel Coronavirus as a Positive Case. This new case is a pregnant 29-year-old female community Health Worker in Ikorodu Lagos State who sneaked into Ekiti State overnight on Friday April,10 2020 suspectedly to take advantage of our free maternal health care in spite of the lockdown. She presented at a state Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Facility in active labour on Monday April 13, 2020.
The governor stated at the press letter that after a prolonged labour with fatal distress, she was referred to a teaching hospital but decided to go to a private hospital instead. A Caesarean section was performed on the patient and the baby was delivered safely.
However, the patient suffered a cardiac arrest and was referred to the Federal Teaching Hospital Ido Ekiti where she is currently unconscious. Below are screenshots of the Governor of Ekiti’s Tweets.
