Can toothaches cause headaches? A migraine headache is triggered when the trigeminal nerve gets irritated as a result of your toothache. The simplest remedy for toothache is to rinse your mouth with warm water. This will help to reduce inflammation and ease the pain. Make sure to use lukewarm water, as hot water can aggravate the pain. Below are some home remedies for toothaches;

  • Take Ibuprofen for the Pain

If the pain is severe, you can take ibuprofen to help alleviate it. Ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that helps to reduce inflammation and pain. It comes in both over-the-counter and prescription forms, so it should be easy to find a formulation that works for you.

  • Rinse Your Mouth With Warm Salt Water

One of the simplest (and cheapest) toothache remedies is to rinse your mouth with salt water. This helps to reduce inflammation, remove debris and bacteria, and soothe the pain.

To make salt water, simply dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt in a glass of lukewarm water. Swish it around in your mouth for a few minutes, then spit it out. Repeat as needed.

  • Use a Cold Compress

If you’re experiencing a toothache, one of the best things you can do is to use a cold compress. A cold compress will help to reduce the inflammation and pain in the area. You can use a cold pack, ice cubes wrapped in a cloth, or even a bag of frozen vegetables. Hold the compress against your cheek near the affected tooth for 10-15 minutes at a time.

  • Place a Piece of Ginger on the Affected Area

One of the most popular home remedies for toothache is to place a piece of ginger on the affected area. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to reduce the swelling and pain caused by a toothache. Plus, it has a refreshing taste that can help to soothe your mouth.

  • Sip on Chamomile Tea

One of the best ways to soothe a toothache is to sip on some Chamomile tea. Chamomile is a relaxant, and it can help to ease the pain and inflammation associated with toothaches. Plus, it’s a great way to relax and destress after a long day.

  • See Your Dentist

If the pain is severe or lasts for more than a day or two, it’s time to see your dentist. Toothaches can be a sign of a more serious problem, like an infection, and require professional treatment. But don’t panic! Most toothaches can be treated with simple home remedies until you can get to the dentist.
