The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, (NCDC) announced via its official tweeter handle that there are 226 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria’s COVID-19 Update Healthforbes Media reporting.
The total confirmed cases in Nigeria as at 20th May 2020 12:33am is 6,401 total confirmed cases, 1,734 discharged cases and 192 deaths recorded.
The Director General Of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu stated via his official official account that citizens of Nigeria should adhere strictly by the guidelines developed by the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
He also said COVID-19 infection among health care workers happens primarily before the diagnosis is made.
The inefficient use of personal protective equipment is as risky as the non use Healthforbes Media reporting.
Dr Sani Aliyu who’s the immediate past Director General, National Agency for the Control of AIDS has said;
“The response to COVID-19 cannot primarily be driven at the federal level, we need states to take more ownership.
Our responsibility is to provide guidance and ensure adequate compliance to recommended measures across board” Dr Sani Aliyu.
The breakdown for each state is as follows: 131 new confirmed cases in Lagos State the epicentre of the outbreak in Nigeria, 25 new confirmed cases in Ogun State, 15 new confirmed cases in Plateau State, 11 new confirmed cases in Edo State, 7 new confirmed cases in Kaduna State, 6 new confirmed cases in Oyo State, 5 new confirmed cases in the nation’s capital Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 5 new confirmed cases in Adamawa State, 4 new confirmed cases in Jigawa State, 4 new confirmed cases in Ebonyi State, 4 new confirmed cases in Borno State, 3 new confirmed cases in Nassarawa State, 2 new confirmed cases in Bauchi State, 2 new confirmed cases Gombe State, 1 new confirmed case in Enugu and Bayelsa States each.
