The Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, (NCDC) announced lastnight Sunday the 17th ,May 2020 vis its official tweeter handle that there are 14 new cases of the novel Coronavirus in Plateau State Healthforbes Media reporting.
The Government of Plateau State yesterday Sunday also has announced the first death of COVID-19 on the Plateau.
His Excellency, Governor Simon Lalong made this announcement during his media briefing on the update of the COVID-19 in Plateau State at the Plateau Government House, Jos.
Governor Simon Lalong said the patient died even before the test result came out which was positive.
He said ” As of today, we have successfully treated and discharged 10 infected persons including the index case who have all been reunited with their families.
” The other 22 infected personnels are still under treatment in a stable condition, Sadly to announce a suspect whose sample was taken died before the test result came out.
His Excellency said, Plateau State has recorded more cases of the novel Coronavirus which rose to 33 confirmed cases. With these surge in the new cases, the Plateau State Government has planned on redoubling their efforts to checkmate the transmission in the community of Plateau State Healthforbes Media reporting.
There will be conduction of contact tracings, isolation suspected contacts and treating of the infected patients.
His Excellency Governor Simon Lalong has announced that members of the community has been engaged in breachings illegal routes at the inter-state borders as there’s was the primary challenge the state encountered in curtailing the control of the spread of the deadly virus.
The Government said the illegal routes has exposed the residents of Plateau State to the deadly virus as all the confirmed cases presently on the Plateau were all from inter-state transmission.
