University Transparency Accountability Solution can be ready in three weeks if the Federal Government is dedicated, Said The Academic Staff Union Of Universities as regards to ASUU strike update.
H-Forbes gathered that, The Federal Government told ASUU to transit to lntegrated Payroll and Personnel Information System impending when UTAS will be ready for use.
Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, ASUU President, said there was no need to transit to IPPIS since UTAS will be ready at most three weeks.
“What is left for UTAS to pass probity test is what we have started with National Information Technology Development Agency, the documents had been submitted to NITDA.
“lf the government shows enough support, we can put the final stage behind us in a couple of weeks, perhaps two to three weeks at most. It is the commitment we are looking for.
“Government is standing that there is a transition, transition for how many weeks, how many months? This last week they still pay some of our members who are not in the IPPIS. So, What policy did they use?
“We have told them several times, use the policy you have been using to pay people, why the insistence of using IPPIS. That was why we said there is an obscure worklist about IPPIS.
Prof Biodun inquire, “We will expose those who are behind it, at the right time, we have submitted every documents, except if they want to sit on the documents. If they don’t want to sit on the documents, then why are they saying we should go back to IPPIS”.
While reacting to the issues of the Thirty billion naira earned academic allowance offered by the FG which ASUU said its for members alone, Mr Biodun, said the union Confer for ASUU not for other unions.
It was irrational for the government to say other unions would benefit from it, Ogunyemi added.
