According to the Defence Headquarter, no fewer than 602 repentant Boko Haram members were sworn an Oath of Allegiance to the Federal Republic of Nigeria in a week previously.
The ex-fighters were said to have renounced their membership of the sect and undergone the de-radicalisation, rehabilitation and re-integrationn programme of the Operation Safe Corridor.
Maj. Gen. John Enenche who’s the Coordinator of Defence Media Operation announced this at a news conference in Abuja on Thursday explaining that the ex-insurgents took an Oath before an 11-member quasi-judicial panel.
He stated. “The reason behind the Oath of Allegiance is to emphasise their discipline, loyalty and obedience to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and making a commitment afterwards.

“The implication is that at the end of the programme, if they commit any offence, they stand to forfeit all privileges and will be liable for offence against the state”
Healthforbes Media gathered that Gen John went ahead to state that over 822 older insurgents had graduated from the DRR programme.
When asked about the number of high-risk insurgents involved in the deradicalization exercise, it was declined by the spokesman stating the information was classified.
According to Gen Enenche, troops of Operation Lafiya Dole in the North-East that was conducted several operations at various locations, that triggered the killing of several criminals at the fringes of the Sambisa Forest and Bulabulin in Damboa Local Government area of Borno State in the North-East part of Nigeria.
