The Government Of Plateau State has announced on Wednesday the 17th June 2020 that 29 of its Health Workers contracted the novel Coronavirus during treatment of infected individuals.
Dr Nimkong Lar who’s the Commissioner for Health disclosed this at a press briefing in Jos, Plateau State.
However, Dr Nimkong said the state has reported 198 confirmed cases with 114 discharged and 5 deaths recorded in Plateau State metropolis.
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, the Plateau metropolis has 168 confirmed cases but results report announced has confirmed that the state has 198 confirmed cases- Dr Nimkong
The Commissioner stated that Plateau State has closed down one of its private hospital for 2-weeks because of the exposure of 2-COVID-19 patients who were admitted for other health illness cases Healthforbes Media reporting.
Dr Lar also added that 17 Staff of the private hospital were confirmes with the novel Coronavirus while all staff of the hospital have quarantined.
“We decontaminated the hospital yesterday and have closed it down for public safety”
“We have also taken the 17 staff to the Isolation Centres for treatment” he re-stated
In a similar developement, Plateau State government has decried the lack of adherence to guidelines for the novel Coronavirus by most persons and some companies, following the suspension of the lockdown order by His Excellency Governor Simon Lalong on 11th June.
